The Contamination Problem

PCAB (Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board) accreditation is a voluntary, rigorous program that requires pharmacies to go well beyond minimum state board requirements.
What does that mean in practice? Every compound is independently tested for purity, potency, and sterility before it ships. The facility operates under USP <797> sterile preparation guidelines — the same framework used by hospital pharmacies. Ingredients are sourced from FDA-registered API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) manufacturers. Your peptides are prepared under sterile conditions, labeled accurately, and stored correctly until they reach you.
This level of quality costs more than gray-market alternatives. There is no way around that. But the comparison is not between expensive provider-supervised peptides and cheaper online peptides. It is between a verified, safe, correctly-dosed therapeutic compound — and an unknown substance of uncertain origin with no quality guarantee.

They're tiny chains of amino acids (the building blocks of protein) that carry specific instructions — "heal this tendon," "burn this fat," "make more growth hormone." Your body already makes thousands of them naturally. As we age, many of these signals get quieter. Peptide therapy is like turning the volume back up on the right ones.
Most peptides used in our protocols have strong safety records — some have been studied for decades. The key is provider supervision and quality sourcing. We only use peptides from PCAB-accredited 503A compounding pharmacies, which means they are tested for purity, sterility, and potency. We also require lab work before starting any protocol, and we monitor you throughout. Peptides are not anabolic steroids — they work with your body's own systems, not against them.
Not always — and if injections are part of your protocol, we make sure you're comfortable first. We teach every patient how to self-inject before they go home. The needles are very small (insulin-sized) and most patients say it's much easier than they expected. We also offer troche, nasal spray, and oral options for many peptides, so you and your provider can choose the method that fits your lifestyle best.
It depends on the peptide and your goal. Some effects happen fast: PT-141 and Oxytocin work within hours. BPC-157 often shows noticeable inflammation reduction in 2–4 weeks. Other benefits build over time: Body composition, skin changes, and energy improvements from GH-boosting peptides typically become noticeable at 6–12 weeks. We tell patients to expect the first month to feel like "setup" — your body is laying the groundwork for the bigger changes ahead.
Side effects vary by peptide, but most are mild. Common ones include:
GH-boosting peptides (Sermorelin, CJC-1295, CJC-1295/Ipamorelin): Mild water retention, temporary fatigue, or tingling — usually fades in the first 2 weeks.
BPC-157: Very well-tolerated. Rarely, mild nausea.
PT-141: Flushing, mild nausea, or a temporary rise in blood pressure. Usually lasts 1–2 hours.
Methylene Blue: Blue-tinted urine (harmless). Rarely, mild headache at first.
GLP-1 medications: Nausea and appetite changes, especially early on — managed by starting at a low dose and titrating slowly. This is expected and temporary for most patients.

Most peptide protocols are not covered by standard insurance because they are considered elective or preventive wellness services. However, We do not accept insurance for peptide programs — all peptide and program fees are self-pay. We do accept HSA/FSA funds and offer payment plans through Cherry and Affirm. Great question — they are very different. HGH (synthetic growth hormone) shuts off your body's own production, carries significant side effects, is tightly controlled, and is expensive. Depending on your program, this typically includes IGF-1, testosterone (total and free), estradiol, thyroid panel, metabolic panel, CBC, cortisol, and inflammatory markers. This tells us where you're starting from so we can dose correctly, track real progress, and catch anything that needs attention before it becomes a problem. Labs are repeated during your program so we can adjust as needed.
Your first visit is a $99 in-person consultation at our River Forest clinic. We go over your health history, current medications, symptoms, and goals — then order your baseline labs. Bloodwork must be completed in person before any prescription is written. Once your results are back, we finalize your protocol and walk you through exactly how to use everything.
